The Celebration of Life for Eric Duff, St. Bede's Episcopal Church, Santa Fe, NM, April 25, 2026:
I've known Rob since childhood and I had the pleasure of meeting Eric last summer. We shared a few meals together over our visit in New Mexico and I felt such a close connection to Eric that first night at dinner. His insightfulness and kindess during that meal as I discussed some of my struggles with him left me leaving dinner that evening feeling fulfilled. One of his comments to me was that anger is just unprocessed sadness. I often revisit that wisdom when I find myself angry and I inevitably go searching for what sadness lies beneath it. His compassion and empathy upon meeting someone he hadn't met before was very apparent and kindness is a legacy that everyone…

A couple of weeks after his passing , I read Eric's recounting and reflections on his and others' life-saving response at the scene of a traffic accident. I was struck by how meaningful the following passage is at this time, when we mark and mourn Eric's passing, but also remember and celebrate the gifts of his life.
In Eric's words:
"I believe these experiences teach us to 'number our days' and remember the blessings of
each day, and the opportunity to serve, sometimes in ways we could never imagine. The
resurrection of Jesus reminds us that life continues in mysterious ways even though it
